So we have done some great trips over the years in Scouting, the High Adventure trips were always a highlight. If we did not go to Philmont we tried to do some mid-level high adventure trip like biking, high copes, rafting and a list of other things. One trip was to Kosirs for a white water rafting trip, we decided to go the weekend before summer camp and just leave early seeing the rafting was not far from camp. We loaded up a group of scouts and off we went. It was a Saturday, so it was busier than the past trips. We had maybe a half dozen rafts and were floating down the river and there was a group of college students doing the same. We continued to pass each other off and on and they were on the river for other reasons than just rafting, there was some drinking going on as well. We just kept our distance from them and they did the same. I was leading the pack and not sure who was pulling up the rear, but one of the other adults. I come around this corner on the river and to my surprise I find one of the rafts from the college group was pulled up on the shore somewhat and the two occupants were engaging in some adult behavior (wink wink). His butt was flapping in the breeze let's say. I was stunned at what to do next, this was never covered in any Boy Scout leader training. At this point, stopping the group would have just staged them all to watch, moving on would have them paddling right by this. So I tried to create enough noise so the couple might hear us, not sure they cared if they did. So I just rushed the kids past them and we carried on with the trip. Some saw it, some did not, but it did get talked about on the trip by those who saw it. Not much we could do about it, but it was one of those moments you can only laugh about later. The only thing I was grateful for, this happened before Summer camp, I think most of the kids forgot about it by the time they got home and were telling their parents about the week's adventure they had.
