A 5:30 wake-up for a 620 depart. Ate breakfast at Cathedral Rock with the sun glaring off the reservoir Scott continues to lead the hike to Clarks Fork. At Clarks Fork Rob Law meets his long lost friend from Mrs. Anderson's second grade class, his nose pickin' buddy. Scott brands his hat and Nathan brands his boots. Rob Law shows his roping skills and he gave them a goal to meet. Tim and Rob have a rope-off challenge, they tie (no pun intended) Mr F & K tie balloons on Rob Aronin's pack to celebrate Rob's golden birthday. The crew gave him a card and we all sang Happy Birthday. The staff from Clarks Fork gave him a cookie too. We hiked to Upper Clarks Fork for lunch, ate by a river and Nathan and Rob get lost looking for a latrine. We attack the steep climb to Shaefers Pass and get there and set up camp. Rain in the distance but we luck out and only get a few drops. A good day to dry some stuff out. Crew gets in pine cone war and Tim Wells learns not to mess with Mr. F again. Deer are very friendly at this camp, Brent, Sam, Nathan and Mr. F & K stalk them. Brent gets as close as a few feet while he is at the latrine and takes a picture. The Latrine here is located at the edge of a meadow and leans a lot. Another crew plays football in the meadow and going to the latrine is like having a box seat to the game. Mr. Kirkland takes a hike to Shaefer peak because plans are to leave when it is still dark in the morning and he doesn't want to get lost. Evaluation time and to bed.
