Enjoy What is around you, don't take it for granted.

Tim Falendysz

When on campouts, especially high adventure trips, I always like to go find a peaceful place to enjoy nature. Here it was on a rock next to a river, sometimes it was looking over a valley at Philmont, sometimes it was the Chapel at camp. If I could give one piece of advice to those who go camping, is when you do, get off the beaten path and enjoy what is around out. I remember one Philmont, where the scouts were playing hacky sack in the camp, and I wandered less than 50 yards from camp to sit on a huge rock that was in our campsite. From that rock, you could see an awesome valley in one direction and the setting sun coming over the ridge behind me.  I called down to the hacky sac crew and they came up, it was definitely one of the best nights I had a Philmont watching a thunderstorm to the south, the sunset and the valley.  Never miss an opportunity to take a few extra steps and explore. Sometimes we miss the best things that are right where we are. Enjoy Nature!
