Get out and VOLUNTEER!



Some have asked me questions about what I have been done in the past, I have done a lot for Scouting and outside of Scouting as well. May this serve as inspiration for others to get involved in things besides your own life.  All these things need volunteers like you to be successful

Boy Scout Troop 161

-Former youth member of Troop 161-Eagle Scout of Troop 161 (81)

-Former Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 161 (81-84)

-Scoutmaster of Troop 161 since 1984 (40 Years)

                -Troop size averages about 40-45 Scouts, max 65

                -Mentored over 106 Scouts to the Rank of Eagle Scout

                -Nearly flawless attendance since 1985

                -Wings Beneath our Wings award (09)

                -Retired 2024

 

Robert S. Lyle

                -Attended consecutive years at Camp Lyle from 1974-2015

                -Played a key role in the construction of the Fire bowl, Climbing Wall, Bike Trail, Chapel and water to the fire bowl and Rifle Range.

                -Sponsored a fund raiser for the complete cost of construction of Trail Hawk Pavilion (named after my Vigil Name) in conjunction with my 30 years at Lyle

                -Strong supporter of the Patrol Method Cooking

                -Co-Founder of the reLYLEables group in 2010 which as directed many camp improvement projects since its inception

                -Chairman of the Lyle Legacy Committee which created a 180-page color book about the history of Lyle including a gathering where much of the memorabilia was available for sale.

               

 

reLYLEable Accomplishments while serving as Co-Chair

                -Cleared and opened sites at camp

                -Rebuilt several staff cabins

                -Leveled and enlarged all campsites at Lyle

                -Paneling on the staff room and lower lodge area

                -Trimmed trees and split may cords of wood

                -Opened water front view at Oh-Da-Ko-Ta

                -Relocated and renovated the shooting sports area at Oh-Da-Ko-Ta

                -Program Bowl Construction

                -Designed Patio on the South side of Dining hall

-Established Eagle Scout Patio (2018)

 

 

High Adventure Experience

                -Philmont Scouts Ranch (Eight Trips)

                -Elkhorn High Adventure Base

                -Flambeau River

                -Alpine Towers (Similar to COPE)

                -White water rafting trips

                -Mentored many Troop trips to Philmont

Order of the Arrow (OA)

-Served as an Associate Advisor for many years

-Advised positions of Secretary, Database, Where to Camping and more

                -Ordeal member (81) Brotherhood member (91) Vigil Member (96)

                -Member of Vigil Selection Committee many times

                -NOAC Associate Advisor 2004

                -Frequent attendee of OA events such as Spring Fellowship, Fall Conclave, and Winter Banquet
