Kathy Andersen

Scouting builds a lot of friendships over the years, it was quick to see that anytime you look at your address book and see so many names you gathered from Scouting friends. From the Troop, from camp, from a committee you serve on what ever it might be.

There is one special friend I have gained from Scouting and that is Kathy Andersen.  Kathy and I have known each other for years. Since before any of the scouts in the program were alive.  I have had to privilege to serve on many committees with Kathy outside of the Troop. Kathy is one of the most giving and caring people I know.  Kathy has the hardest time saying NO to another volunteering opportunity.  Unfortunately for others, I have tried to teach her that word because she would bury herself in helping others. She is super involved in scouting but it does not end there. She has done the Policeman’s ball, done Christmas gift tree at work, she has helped at food banks, if you can guess it, Kathy has probably done it.  She puts up with me, with my corny jokes, goofy whit and sometimes my sarcastic comments. Jerry Sisak has said many times, it’s a wonder I am still alive, and he is correct.  We do a lot of things outside of scouting together. The one what made me the most nervous was when rented a boat in Kentucky while camping with family,, arranged to have bricks purchased, I still went out with her on a lake and I wasn’t thrown overboard.  I guess that is the true sense of trust in her. Kathy has listened and coached me on a lot of scouting challenges. She has definitely made me a better Scoutmaster and I love her for that. Thank you Kathy!!
