This is one of my Scoutmasters in my tenure as a Scout. I had 4 Scoutmasters during my Scouting years (Guess we wore them out quick), They were Jim Poulsen, Dick Walker, Rick Heck and LeRoy Jungbluth. This is LeRoy Jungbluth pictured here. I often think how things in my life would be different if I did not meet this person. He (and then wife Tina) encouraged me to stay in scouting when I wanted to quit. He always treated me well, supportive to me as an SPL and was a great Scoutmaster to me. He was active in several aspects of Scouting besides the Troop. I often reflect back to my time as a Scout under all these scoutmasters, but Mr. Jungbluth always is the one who I remember the most. I doubt he thought when he encouraged that 16 yr old nerd of a scout to stay in Scouting and get Eagle Scout, that I would have left such a legacy in scouting well past him. I credit him for many of my successes. I always tell the Scouts, every scout is 1 bad meeting away from quitting, this was no more true than for me. Thank you Mr. J for your support and encouragement, I have not regretted the decision to stay in scouts some 45+ years later. You were my inspiration to accomplish all that I have over the years. ONCE AGAIN THANK YOU!
Side note; We called Mr. Jungbluth Mr. J. When I turned 18, he had the scouts call me Mr. F out of respect to a (new) adult. That name has stuck with me ever since, and I credit Mr. J for giving me that title.
