Today would have been my mom's 90th birthday and just like my dad my mom was very supportive and proud of my achievements in boy scouting. Whether it was one of my rank advancements as a kid to me earning my Eagle Scout and so many other awards in scouting in my tenure. Mom was always there to sew my patches on and make sure my shirt looked good she helped with the banners with my dad always sewing them up for him and so many other things. One funny event was we were at a leadership training at her house in Edgerton WI and I mentioned it would be nice to have a couple of bags made for the flag, before the weekend was over I had two bags all ready to go and one of the adult leaders said to the other adult leader how long have we had those and the first leader says oh about 15 minutes Tim’s mom whipped it up for us. That was what my mom would do she sewed up scarves with my dad with her embroidery machine she did other things to help the scouts out but was always very supportive of me and what I was doing. Every time I visited her she would always ask me how are the scouts doing and even in her older age when she was forgetting things she never forgot that I was a scout and was still doing scouting and would ask how the scouts were, she remembered many of their names too. Another funny one I remember, was while the scouts were at her house (the cottage) we invited my mom to eat with us, so she got to interact with the older scouts, I don’t remember the exact phrase but Mom snapped back with a witty comment at me and the scouts just laughed hard, and one of them said, I think I see where you get your whit from Mr. F. You come by it honestly! Both my mom and Dad were funny people, and YES, I did get that from both of them. As with my dad, I owe my mom a lot of gratitude for helping me become the successful Scoutmaster I have been for the last 40 years, love you Mom, and miss you. Happy Heavenly Birthday Mom!
