Sunday August 7

Scott leads the hike the few miles to camp and we find an area to set up our site. Jeff asks for the dinning fly in order to show us how to set up. Guess what, no one has the fly. Scott said that the only crew gear that he has is his tent. We teach Scott that his tent is not crew gear and the next day he takes more of the crew gear. We ponder what we can do for a while and then Mr. F & K give up their ground tarp to make up for the missing fly. Jokes are thrown around about our new dinning "patch" and Jeff

proceeds with the training. Mr. Kirkland admires Mr. F's leather strings on his dishes and goes and ties strings on all his dishes too. We cook and we learn how to human sump our dishes, Hummm. Nathan volunteers to sump the enchilada pot. There is this fear that the enchiladas will cause trouser chile and everyone scopes out where the Bombardier is. One other thing that Jeff teaches us is that if we pee on a rock it will cause less soil erosion!? We opt out of Cantina in order to get some things covered at camp and to do Thrones and Roses (evaluation time). We watch the starry night.

Can I go on record and say that I've had 30 years to reflect on this and I stand by the fact that a tent is crew gear. 3 crew members were sleeping in it after all. 😂 On a more serious note, these are really fun to read. I forgot about a lot of this as I have no pictures but it's definitely bringing back some memories.
