There was a time in the troop when Scouts were getting driver's licenses left and right, I started with one scout, but others wanted in on it too. I bet them they could not get through their probationary license without a ticket. All were eager to take the bet, cause they were going to be awesome drivers. I don’t remember the actual bet but it was a free dinner or an amount of money, no payment to me if they lost (the ticket would teach them the lesson). I don’t remember the statistics, but I do know that I won more than I lost, maybe 2 to 1. My goal was to make them good drivers, to discourage reckless behavior patterns, not different than what I was teaching them in Scouts. I hope it helped them develop good habits and I would be interested to know what happened to those who took the bet, my memory is kind of foggy on the deal. Who was part of this deal?
