Today I would like to thank my dad. My dad was an active adult leader in the Troop when I was a youth. He joined when my brother was in Scouts, but was more active when I was in. He served as Committee chairman for many years. He went on a lot of campouts and the Scoutmaster and him were good friends. My dad (and mom) taught all of us in the family to be generous people and to give back to others, it was that ideal that had me stay in Scouts for so long. My parents were always very proud of all of us kids and got involved in a lot of our things even when we were adults. My dad was the one who made most of the Eagle Scout Banners that adorn the wall at the Eagle Court of Honor. He was a perfectionist and always wanted them to be JUST RIGHT, I have a box of ones that just didn’t make the cut and he redid them. He did all the screen printing and sewing unless he could talk my mom into the sewing part. My dad got the first Troop trailer for the Troop and earned many awards himself as a leader. I want to thank my dad (and mom) for all he taught me, while the scout Oath and Law are part of the Scouting program, but it was what was expected of all in our family as well. Thanks, dad for being my Scout leader, for being a great role model, for supporting me as an adult leader in Scouting, for making ALL THOSE banners and most of all for being a great dad! Happy Heavenly Birthday Dad!!!
