After Monday, this will conclude our Super Summer program and back to School for all, hard to believe summer is coming to an end and we are moving into the fall. Looking back over the summer, there are lots of thanks to be handed out, not sure where to begin, so let’s try.
-Camp Lyle -To all who made Camp Lyle such a successful trip. We had almost 20 adults who helped Scouts in so many ways, you can’t count them all. From helping with first class trail, to working on merit badge, to an outstanding feast for adults, our top wreaths salesman and camp staff. Thanks to all those who helped with the transportation to and from camp safely. A lot of miles were logged to make it happen. Also a big thanks to all the youth leaders who are working directly with all their fellow youth, a great job by all, many learned a lot about leadership. Thanks to Codie Hannemann for serving as the SPL at camp along with the Leadership Corps and all our Patrol leaders!
-Philmont- We had two adults, Jason Schuls and Jerry Sisak who attended Philmont with the back up of Nick Potter. They put in a lot of work into not only on the trip, but all the training leading up to the event. They gave up a lot, the elders returned and said it was the most strenuous thing they have ever done in their life which says a lot, they had a blast. It was a great sacrifice to make for the youth of our Troop. Thanks to all. Hats off to Sean Spring, Sean served as the Crew Leader and lead the youth on an adventure of a lifetime. It was an awesome event and still hearing new stories every week. Be sure to check out the photo’s and be sure to ask anyone who went about the trip. Hopefully they will continue to share more about their trip in the weeks, months and years to come.
-Activities – There was a great list of summer events, when you look at the stuff we have done this summer there was something for just about everyone. The PLC picked a good bunch of events and thanks to the Activities committee for getting all the arrangements made for all the many events we did. Planning one event is one thing, planning a summer full of them, is another. Any one event can trip you up, but to pull off a summer full of them has taken a lot of dedication to make it happen. Thank you to the Activities committee. Don’t take for granted what a great treasure we have with or Super Summer program, I talked to a couple troop leaders this week, and they both told me they go dormant during the summer and don’t do all the fun stuff that we do, what a shame!
-Troop Committee- I could go on through the whole committee and they all played some role in the success of this summer, here are some of them…
Transportation- with Rich Hardesty and the numerous drivers that logged thousands of miles safely Financial transactions with Mrs. Nancy Hardesty, we have moved a lot of money in the last three months
Advancement work with Mr. Kim Williams, she has a bunch of advancement cards to fill out for COH
Service with Mrs. Gina Hannemann, lots of compliments on the Festival clean up and beach clean up
Med Forms by Mrs. Sue Spring, chasing down all the those nasty forms.
Gear prep by Mr. Frank Gall, we were pretty much able to pick up the trailers and go!
There are the countless other people on the committee and adults that make it a very smooth running troop. Thanks!
This is all done under the leadership of Mark Orlovsky, our committee Chairman for the last couple of years. Thanks to all the hard work Mark has done to help running of the Troop. It is always great to work with good people who share the passion to keep this Troop the best one in town! Mark will be moving out of this position in not so distance future, thanks Mark for an outstanding job as our Committee Chairman!
Thanks to EVERYONE who makes puts the #1 in Troop 161! We can’t do it without the help from everyone, parents if you didn’t get a chance to help this summer, hope to see you helping in the near future.
Next week!
After this week, see everyone on September 8th, which will be our Court of Honor, this Court of Honor will start at 6:30 and Scout and parents should attend, after the Court of Honor we will return to the 7 PM schedule.
Thanks
That is it for this week!
Mr. F.
