Wreath pick up THIS weekend

THIS weekend will be Wreath pick up We will be picking them up at Miller Park in the morning of Saturday the 22rd. Once we get back we will sort the orders out in my back yard. Once that is done, we will call you when the order is ready. Seeing we will be starting pretty early, your orders should be ready by mid-day, but as I said, we will call as we finish picking the orders. Never been to my house? I am on the NE corner of Middle Rd and Cardinal Drive (5817 Middle Rd but is no mailbox on Middle Rd). My driveway/mailbox is off of Cardinal Drive. Across the street from the Millers.

For those who qualified for deliveries, we will also be delivering those sometime late morning to early afternoon, so plan on being home. The way I see it, the following families will get their wreaths delivered. (Hayden, Koenig, Kroes, Lentz, Lindholm, Miller, Westburg) for having a combined total of $900 or more in wreaths. GREAT SALES! Sorry not everyone can be first.

The rest will be expected to come and pick them up on Saturday, if you are not going to be home, would like us to call a cell number or would like to make OTHER arrangements, just drop me an email. I will print them out and stick them with your order so those picking orders will have the information.

Want to sell more wreaths?

We will be manning Store sales at Kortendicks and Kmart on the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving, if you would like to sign up for those, ask about it when you pick up your wreaths OR contact Mr. Latyshev and get your name on the list. See the TROOP EVENT ROSTERS for the schedule, there are still some spots open, see below. Be sure to check the schedule for when you are supposed to be at the store(s)

Show me the money

All money for wreaths will be due on Dec 1 or Dec 8. You don’t have to bring the money till then. If at all possible, please have your parents write a check for all the funds just so we don’t have a lot of cash floating around on collection night.

Trying something new this year

As many know, our Troop numbers have been declining the last few years, more from people graduating out of Scouts and not as many crossing over into Scouting. Our current membership is the lowest it has been in 15 or 20 years. The PLC has decided they would like to recruit more scouts, so as part of a NYLT project, Adam Schuls has created a flier that we would like everyone to hand out with your Thank You notes inviting people to join Scouts. Please make sure you hand one out to each person you have sold a wreath to, it might not be them, but someone in their family that might be interested in Scouting. This is a great way to reach hundreds of people that we don’t already reach out to. Please do what you can to encourage others to get a great experience that Scouting has to offer. We also will be doing something similar at the store sales too, we need to get the word out that we are out there. Be proud of a great organization. Let see if we can bring back a patrol or two.

NO PLC THIS WEEK

There will NOT be a PLC meeting this week, as we covered pretty much everything at the Leadership Training weekend. For many, that may not mean you have a free night, read the next item. Thanks to all those who attended the Training weekend, you make the Troop a better Troop!

Philmont Night

The Philmont 2014 Scouts will have a meeting this Monday at CBTL at 6:30. We will be having pizza or subs, unless there is a request for squeeze cheese and tuna. This event is to share with the Family Account the adventures of Philmont. Family and Troop members are welcome to join and see what Philmont is all about, it was a great time for these scouts who attended, you might want to come and hear all their stories. Philmont Scouts, don’t forget to bring your photos and video’s to share. If you are coming, please shoot me a note, with a number of attendee’s. Philmont Scouts who replied to the previous email, you might want to reply with a head count so we have enough (but not too much) food.

Court of Honor

Court of Honor will be December 1st, be sure to plan on attending with at least one of your parents. The start time will be 7 PM

Changing of the guard

There is always change in the air, that holds true with the Troop. Mr. Mark Orlovsky has served as our Committee Chairman for the last several years, his son Mitchel graduated out of the youth ranks back in May, so Mr. Orlovsky will be retiring as Committee Chairman. We want to thank him for many great years of service as Committee Chair and the many other jobs he has assumed over the years, all the way back to Cub Scouts. I have known Mr. Orlovsky for a LONG time, he was on camp staff when I was a scout, he also served as Camp Director when I first became Scoutmaster. It has been an honor to serve with him in the Troop capacity and look forward to working with him in the future on other projects! Taking up the reins of Committee Chairman will be Mr. Peter Koenig, thanks to him for stepping up and helping run a great Troop! Join me and thanking both of these men!

Thanks

That is it for this week!
