High Adventure this summer
We are working on a high adventure program for the summer of 2015. There are a few things that are on the table related to this event, the PLC has been working on narrowing down about 10-12 options to the final four which include Isle Royal, A Biking Trip, and Trip to the Tetons/Yellowstone area or a Trip to Washington DC. We are working on some of the final details to present for a vote by all those who would have be 13 yrs old and/or completed 7th grade or older. The final vote will take place at the Court of Honor on March 2nd, with a final fact sheet will follow shortly after. Based on the upcoming calendar, we are looking at this event will be June 19-28 (plus or minus a day or two, depending on the trip). I will be sending out a one page introduction sheet on all four events before the vote so you have a chance to research them before the vote. The first step is we want to make sure that the days outlined will not be a problem or just in case you are planning a family vacation so you can plan around this week. Please let me know if you think this will be a problem with your family, otherwise please set aside those dates for Scouting High Adventure… With these trips, right now the price is ranging from less $200 upwards $500, the in-state trips on the low end, and the out-of-state trips on the higher end. We are looking for input on what both Scouts and Parents think of the trip ideas and the pricing… Do these sound interesting to you? Parents do you think it would be a trip you would want your son to attend. Before we move forward please feel free to send me an email, with your thoughts. Watch for more details in a special BSB next week that will address this program.
Summer camp after Lyle
This week at the committee meeting we discussed the future of our Summer Camp for 2016 and beyond. We are forming a group to start looking for a new camp as Camp Lyle will be closing. As part of this initial discussion; we want to know what is important to you when it comes to Summer camp. As we look at other Boy Scout camps available, there are a lot of exciting adventures on the horizon, there is much more discussion on this subject, just wanted to get all thinking about what makes camp so special.
Annual Dinner
The invites went out for the Annual/Eagle COH dinner last week, don’t forget to RSVP to attend, everyone should plan on attending this great event to celebrate our Troop’s accomplishments, especially our Eagle Scouts.
That should do it for this week…
Thanks
Mr. F.
