Trampoline Park and Trade-o-Ree

Don’t forget that the Trade O Ree and the Trampoline park are this Saturday at noon at St. Rita (come fed, we will not be stopping on the way up). Everyone needs to have a release form completed, I will have copies available at departure, but feel free to fill it out in advance.

Monday’s Meeting

If all goes well, we will have one of our more popular programs on Monday, the K-9 Police dogs are coming to our meeting, if they don’t get called into duty. You don’t want to miss it! Don’t forget to turn in your advancement this week, we have a busy next couple weeks.

Some changes for the next few weeks of Monday meetings…

Monday November 16th, we will have a joint meeting with Cub Pack 161, to give them a “show and tell” about Boy Scouts. We are still ironing out the final details, but we will be moving the meeting time up to least 6:30 instead of 7, but watch next week’s BSB for the final news on that one. Let’s show the Cub Scouts how cool Troop 161 is, and how much fun we have!

Monday November 23rd is PLC meeting

Monday November 30th will be a Road Trip Monday,

Racine Water Company.

You wake up in the morning turn on the faucet, take a shower, and brush your teeth. How does that water make it from the shores of Lake Michigan to your tap? What sorts of processing is performed to make sure you don't die of cholera, dysentery, or echinococcosis? What happens so it is free of chemicals and just tastes good! Come for a tour of the Racine Water Department's downtown processing and treatment facility.

Wreath Sales

It is still not too late to sign up for store sales. For our new Scouts, this is an opportunity to do show and sell in front of Kmart and Kortendicks Hardware on the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving. Be sure to sign-up this Monday, a copy of the signup sheet is in the Event Roster section of the web page, you can see what is still open. You will need to sign up on the sheets at the meeting so we don’t have duplicate people signing up on the same time slot. We will have limited sizes available at the store so if you have more wreath orders, you can still call Latyshev’s and we can get those ordered before the order is shipped down to us. Don’t forget that the pickup will be November 21.

Reminder to Troop adult/youth visitors

During the course of Troop meetings, we have some adults that hang around the meeting, sometimes conducting troop business, that is fine, but I do have a request, to be respectful to the youth running their meeting. It has come to my attention that sometimes when the youth are trying to communicate to the patrols or the whole troop, that the adults in the room are the biggest distraction to that success, and we need to remember we are guests in their meeting and that we need to be respectful what they are doing and set the example for the scouts. If you want to talk, use your phone or anything that can be distracting, please step out into the vestibule, crying room or the office. While I understand that at times the meeting is noisy and chaotic, there are times when the leaders of the meeting are trying to quiet the meeting down and periodically the adults are not always paying attention to what they are trying to do. I would also like to mention any adults who are going to stick around the meeting are fair game to be called in to help judge events, taste food, participate in Board of Reviews or whatever the youth (or adult) leaders might need help with, if you are called upon to help, please do. I would also ask that seeing the Scoutmaster staff cannot be everywhere, if you see any health and safety issues, you should bring them to our attention or stop them immediately depending on the situation. This might include patrol members who are not listening to the youth leaders. I would also like to remind everyone that the PLC meetings are held right after the meeting upstairs, and loud activity downstairs by the north end of the hall is like standing outside the doorway to the PLC meeting and makes it difficult for us to hear each other, feel free to step into the vestibule or the office to chat, that would help us out a lot.

December event

Don’t forget to sign up for the December activity, the Chicago trip to the Museum of Science and Industry.

That should do it for this week, see you Saturday and Monday.

Thanks,

Mr. F.
