Spacing out this week!
For this Monday’s meeting we will be talking to Mr. Ken Longacre, his job is Flight Controller,
Guidance, Navigation and Control at NASA. We will talk to him via video conference call. Mr. Longacre will give us a virtual tour of some things around NASA as well as be available to answer any questions you might have about the NASA program. The entire evening is dedicated to talking with him and will prove to be a very informational meeting. Parents are welcome to attend if they would like too. Think of some good questions to ask Mr. Longacre, and if you would like, send them to Chris Hanna ahead of time and he will make sure Mr. Longacre has a complete answer for you.
Next week is Court of Honor
Next week, March 7th will be the Court of Honor, along with the kick off for our spring activities, parents and scouts should plan on attending. We will also be having a guest to present the Friends of Scouting presentation. The Court of Honor will start at 7 PM on March 7th
New Patrols
We talked about new patrol structure last week at the Troop meeting. Since then we found out we will be getting more Webelos cross overs than expected but we will still move forward with the plans to reduce the patrols so that we can maintain good size patrols. After we restructured, we felt it was important to give everyone a chance to run for patrol leader for the new patrols so we are postponing the elections till March 14th, any who would like to run for Patrol Leader, can still submit an application the next two weeks. Remember, YOUR troop runs on YOUR leadership, be sure to volunteer to be a leader of your patrol or other troop leadership positions. Be sure to welcome all our new Scouts who will be crossing over this weekend and joining us at the Troop meetings.
High Adventure 2016
High Adventure 2016 was voted on, the winner is the Western Tour. As mentioned, we said this trip is yours to decide what you would like to do. Looks like we will be picking one of the June weekends based on the survey. We will have a meeting on March 22, at 7 PM at CBTL to talk about the options, plan on attending. A fact sheet with a deposit amount will be in the Court of Honor handout next week, we will not be able to determine a final fee till we know exactly what we are doing, so the final cost will not be available till after the 22nd meeting
Annual Dinner
We are kind of expecting everyone to attend the annual dinner, it is the showcase of a good year of Scouting at Troop 161. If you have not RSVP’ed yet, be sure to do so to Mrs. Miller or to t161annualdinner@mrfsweb.com by March 1st which is this Tuesday.
Looking ahead
On March 14th, our Troop meeting will be elections along with we will be discussing and signing up for Merit Badges for Summer camp. Be sure to look at the merit badges you want to work on at summer camp. On the 14th we will be going on line and getting you signed up for the badges, so be sure you have a good plan for this summer.
Thanks
Mr. F.
