Welcome to our new Scouts

We welcome our new scouts who joined the Troop. It is great to have you on board as a member of Troop 161. We will be holding a New Family night on March 17th at CBTL (436 Four Mile Rd) at 7 PM, please plan on attending. This meeting is to help you get up to speed on how things work in the troop. We want to assist you in getting the most out of our Scouting experience with Troop 161

Court of Honor this week

This week we will have our Court of Honor, which is our quarterly awards meeting which we expect all families to attend to celebrate the accomplishment of our scouts. The accomplishments are light this quarter, but we have some other presentations such as Friends of Scouting presentation and the cross over our new scouts, so for all our new scouts, be sure to bring your parents. Come celebrate, welcome and learn this Monday night. Great night to sign up for the next three months of activities too!

Court of Honor Handout

We publish a Court of Honor handout that includes our Troop roster, calendar and fact sheets for the next three plus months. You can get that handout HERE. The handout is password protected, the password is T161. Be sure to grab that handout and print it out so you and your family have the info for the next three months. Signup for the upcoming events and enjoy a great scouting experience.

Last call for youth leaders

With the Patrol changes, we have extended the opportunity for people to sign up for youth leadership positions in the troop. Elections are next week, this is the last week to sign up.

Annual Dinner

Can you believe that we have some people who have not RSVP’e (yes or no) for the Annual dinner yet?? If one of those is you, please do so, don’t make us hunt you down. You can reply to T161annualdinner@mrfsweb.com or call Jennifer Miller at 262-681-2560

High Adventure

The Western Tour fact sheet is for those who have completed the 7th grade by this summer. We will be having a meeting on March 22nd to talk about some of the details but more to decide on the itinerary of the trip. The trip is yours to decide, so be sure you plan on attending that meeting if you are planning on going or even thinking about attending this event. We have a lot of options and we want YOU to decide where the trip should take us.

Summer camp

The deposit for summer camp has been paid (new members still have time), we have great attendance for camp, almost all of the Troop is attending so far. The next payment is due in April, but if you want to break up that payment a little, feel free to make a partial payment between now and April to soften the blow to your family budget. Anyone who needs financial assistance, please let me know and I will get you the info you need to request those funds. ALL SCOUTS, and adults attending Camp MUST have a medical form completed, you can find that form HERE. Be sure you have your doctor exam scheduled so you can get that filled out before June. Also, if you don’t want to go to your doctor, there are several clinics in the area that will do them, such as Walgreens and other drug stores. Some have found those cheaper than their insurance deductible.

How to get all the communications!

For all our new families, and as a refresher for the Troop membership, here is a couple hints to keep you up to date on things. We strive to communicate with you, but you have to read them too. Here are some things to help you out!

BSB Weekly Newsletter- You should be getting the BSB weekly newsletter, usually on Saturday morning. Be sure to read it every week for the latest info and to be ready for Monday meeting. Typically, there is no BSB sent on 4th Monday or other weeks there is not at Troop meeting. I suggest that you bookmark the page that is referenced in the email, the BSB is located in the same webpage location every week, so if for some reason you don’t get the email, you can go to the favorite link and have the info you need. Odds are if you are reading this on line, you are getting the BSB.

Court of Honor Handout- This is a very important document that has all the upcoming events, be sure to print it and

Troop Web Page- Did you know that you can go to the Troop web page and get the info you need there. The link to the Troop web page is http://mrf161.wix.com/troop161 and then book mark it and always has info at your fingertips. Besides the weekly newsletter (BSB) there is the Troop calendar, event fact sheets, the handout listed above and a lot of good info for you to look at or use as a resource.

Event Calendar- Did you notice that under the events info there is the Calendar link, you can click on that and get the latest Troop calendar. Here is a special thing, if you notice on the bottom right, there is an add to google button, if you click on that, you can add this calendar to your google calendar, and the events will show up on your own google calendar, and if you do it right, as they change, you will have them available on your calendar too. Some of the events even have fact sheets associated with them and you can click on them and get the details of the event. You can also add this address to your calendar program

Event Rosters- Did you know you can see if you signed up for an event by clicking on the EVENT ROSTER link? This page is updated after the envelopes are processed, so be sure to check to make sure your envelope gets processed. In most cases, the envelopes are processed no later than the next BSB publish date.

That is all for this week, see all scouts and their parents on Monday night at 7 PM or sooner.

Thanks

Mr. F.
