This week
This Monday we will be learning some cool medical things; you won’t want to miss out on how the body works.
Med Forms
Still looking for some med forms, have you turned yours in yet? If not, be sure to get that turned in, so we can close that part of the pre-camp duties. Everyone has to have a yearly exam. If you have questions, you can contact Mr. Jeff Voelz.
Campout next weekend
We have the campout next weekend, be sure your patrol has a shopper for food and if you have any special needs you let your patrol shopper know. Also, figure out who is buying food and make sure you have the money on hand to pay them before we leave for the campout next Friday so that we don’t have those bills outstanding. Anyone who has food bills that didn’t/don’t get paid, please let me know, we will subtract it from their account and get you the money. As with all campouts, we meet at 5:15 at St. Rita.
Next week Monday
Next week Monday (May 16) is an advancement night AT ST. RITA, after the campout you might have finished up some advancement, Monday is a great time to turn it in and the last meeting before the Court of Honor in June, maybe you will even be ready to do a rank advancement too. We will be doing some map and compass things at the campout next weekend (so bring your book), several people are still missing that requirement and for some, it is the only thing holding them back from their next rank, let’s get that finished up and advance. This meeting starts at 7:00 PM.
Do you need service?
We have a few things going on in the troop for service hours, here is a quick list of them over the next month or so
Brandon Dobrowski is working on an Eagle project at Caledonia Historical grounds on 5 mile, give him a call if you want to give him a hand. Brandon is working on this project this weekend.
This Saturday, camp Ohdakota is having a work weekend for anyone interested in helping get camp cleaned up after a long winter. If you would like to help, more info is below.
Jacob Oteman is working on a project at St. Lucy’s putting in benches and a table, want to help, give him a call. He will be working on that over the next few weeks.
I received a message from our District Executive, they are looking for some people to work with younger youth while their parents are attending a Youth Protection training on June 5th, if you would like to help, please contact Brittany Burmeister at Brittany.Burmeister@scouting.org. It will only be an hour or so, they want to offer this service to leaders who are taking the training, want to help out?
There is a women’s group who just bought a home to make into a shelter for women in need, they have tons of tasks, if you would like to help on that, there will be a work session in mid-June, Daniel Latyshev and his family are helping on that, if you would like to join them, let Daniel know, this is NOT an Eagle project, just a project that Latyshev family is offering for those who want to help or need service hours.
One more thing…
As you can tell, we have lots of opportunities to do scouting over the next few weeks. There is even more we could have done. There is one event we opted to pass on as Troop activity but it still a great event, and if you would like to attend, you are welcome to attend on your own. That is Scouting Polooza, which will be held at Lockwood Park from 1 to 5 PM on May 21, it is a great opportunity to show off scouting to the public, they will also be offering a couple merit badges as well, some have pre-requisites. You can find out more by contacting Brittany.Burmeister@scouting.org or the scout office. Here is some info that made the local news http://racineuncovered.org/2016/05/101209/
Happy Mothers Day Weekend!
Thanks
Mr. F.
