Welcome!

Welcome to all our new scouts crossing over from Cub Scouts. This is our weekly newsletter that we use to keep everyone up to speed on what is happening with the Troop. Be sure to read it every week so you don’t miss anything!

Court of Honor this Monday

This Monday will be the Court of Honor, which is our quarterly recognition night for the entire Troop and their parents to attend. We recognizing all the scouts who worked on advancement in the last three months, talk about our upcoming events, and so much more, be sure both Scouts and parents attend this meeting. BE SURE TO PRINT OUT THIS DOCUMENT, the password is T161, it outlines the next 3+ months of Scouting activity, very important!

Scouting for Food

Next week SUNDAY we will have Scouting for Food, we will have a sign up at the meeting this Monday, be sure to sign up for both Sunday, March 12 and Saturday, March 18th. If you can’t help on both, be sure to sign up for at least one of the two days. We need parents to help, be sure sign up as well. Scouting for food helps the hungry in our community and we are one of the top organization to collect for the hungry in Racine area. Let’s get out there and help the hungry.

Troop Meeting Monday, March 13

Regular Troop meeting on Monday, March 13 at Cascia hall, the meeting starts at 7PM. Parents are welcome to drop off their son and pick them up at 8:30. For parents who want to stick around, that is fine, but please remember our scouts are running a meeting, please be respectful of their program they are running and if you need to talk, please step out of the hall.

Annual Dinner and Eagle Court of Honor

Saturday, March 18, will be the annual meeting, the RSVP day has passed and still many of you have not RSVP’ed. If have not RSVP’ed, you can still email T161annualdinner@mrfsweb.com with your number or you can call Jennifer Miller at 681-2560. This is an outstanding event and honors our three scouts who have attained the rank of Eagle Scout. For our new scouts, this is a great chance to see what you can achieve if you are active in Scouting as these three scouts have been. Don’t forget this dinner is also to recognize our Troop’s yearly accomplishments too. We encourage 100% of the Troop attend.

Monday, March 20th

We are looking to arrange the annual swim test for camp on March 20th, not all the details have been worked out yet, so watch the BSB (this newsletter) for future information, but be sure to keep that date open to attend the swim test.

New Family night -March 23, 2017

We will have a new Scout family night on Thursday, March 23rd, at 7 PM at CBTL (436 Four Mile Rd). This meeting is pretty important meeting for all new families. Each new family should plan on attending with youth and at least one parent. We will be covering the basics of Scouting and help you get ramped up to get the most out of Scouting with Troop 161. We will also be talking about summer camp and upcoming events. Please plan on attending.

For our new Scouts, the next two items in the newsletter are more important for our older scouts, so don’t worry if you don’t understand, the older scouts will know what it is about, we will talk about some of these at the new family might.

If you have not signed up for Summer Camp, be sure to do so this Monday. Summer camp online merit badge and activity sign is available if you have paid your deposit. This year you will be responsible to signup online on your own. If anyone needs help, we will assist you in the April 17th advancement night.
