This Monday
This Monday will be another exciting meeting planned by YOUR PLC crew! We have a few things due this week. First, if you missed the Lock in signup, you can still sign up this week. This is a VERY popular event for the Troop so you don’t want to miss it. Your PLC has plans for all kinds to games and activities. We will not only athletic games in the gym, we will also be having a bunch of board games, movies and other things. You don’t want to miss it. For our new Scouts, we will be doing the physical fitness challenges that are required for tenderfoot and maybe more so bring your book. For our older scouts, if you look at the adults who are attending, maybe you can work on a merit badge or two. Speaking of adults, we could use a few more adults to help out on this event, so if you are willing, please let me know! It is a TON of fun, but you might plan on sleeping on Saturday morning after the event.
Philmont Payment Philmont Scouts (older scouts going to Philmont), don’t forget that this is the first of the month, and your next payment will be due if you are on the installment plan. If you receive the $200 essay grant, that will be applied to you the May payment. Don’t forget, if you want to do both Philmont and Summer camp, your summer camp fee is half off, so there is still time to sign up for summer camp.
Lock In next weekend
Don’t forget that the Lock in is NEXT weekend, April 7-8, remember drop off is at 8 PM, pick up is at 8 AM. Here are the full details on the event.
We will be meeting at St. Rita's School Gym for our Lock-In. We will start out with some sports, then a little tournament action, maybe a little-supervised dodgeball action or how about some Volleyball? The Gym will be ours through the night, so talk to your Patrol leader so your ideas get put into action. Not into all that sports stuff for the whole night? How about some all night board games? For this event, we are lifting the Caffeine ban (with your parents’ permission) for the evening, cause in order to stay awake; you might just need a little Mountain Dew. Come one, come all and be locked in for the evening for fun and fellowship with your friends. You shouldn’t have any excuses… You don’t work at 3 AM? You don’t have sports at 3 AM? This event was planned for you when all these distractions are gone. So what do you get for your money? We will have snacks, drinks and then a LARGE breakfast for all, served by the adults. Better come hungry, ‘cause it is going to be a BIG breakfast. You will need to refuel after a long night of activity. Younger scouts, bring you book, we are going to work on some advancement too! Red T-shirt or other scouting T-shirt is the uniform for this event, class A uniform is NOT required
Looking for a few more willing parents to help out, who is in? Don’t forget, St. Rita will be hosting a fish fry just prior to our event, so feel free to come over early and have a nice fish dinner with your family.
Summer Camp
If signed up for summer camp, don’t forget to go online and sign up for your merit badges. For our new scouts, we once we get you signed up we will help you get signed up for some good stuff, don’t worry too much about it at this time, the new scout programs don’t fill up as fast as the older ones. For our older scouts, make sure you and your parents are aware of the extra costs involved in the activities. These costs will be taken out of your account in either May or June, once we know everyone is signed up and set in their class schedule. Remember some of the older scout programs fill up fast, so don’t wait too long or you might not get what you want. If you lost your sign in info, please let me know, and I will resend it to you.
Scout Accounts
Everyone should receive a Scout Account statement in the next week or so showing their current balance. This will be coming from our treasurer each month in the first week or so of each month. If you did not receive one, please let us know and will make sure we have the email address correct. This is important to our new scouts, as this will be the first month you will receive a statement. Please remember, that if your account is a positive number, you owe the troop money, cause you have exceeded the credit balance you had on hand. If you have a positive balance, that should be cleared up within 30 days in order to continue with events. Anyone needing financial assistance should talk to either myself, Mr. Koenig or Mrs. Hardesty about Scouting grants.
Spring Campout
Missed an early payment reminder on the calendar sheet, don’t forget to pay the early fee for High Cliff State Park this week. It is a new location and will be a great trip. You won’t want to miss it.
Thank You
I would like to extend a HUGE THANK YOU to all those who help on our multiple activities in March. We had great turn out for our two Scouting for Food weekends and collected a lot of food. Also a big thanks to all those who helped out on our annual dinner both prior to and the day of the event, it is a big job and the all the help makes it a little easier for all. I heard a lot of positive comments from the guests of the evening and our Eagle Scout families also thanked the troop many times for all you did to make their evening very special. If you missed this year’s event, you will want to mark down March 17th, 2018 for next year’s dinner, it is an outstanding event for the Troop that recognizes not only our Eagle Scouts, but the accomplishments of the entire troop including youth and adult leaders, you don’t want to miss it again.
That is all for this week. If you are a new Scout family, if you could acknowledge you got the email that led you to this post, that would be great, we don’t want you to miss out on the BSB every week, they are packed with useful information. I will chase those down those who don’t reply to see what we can do to get these to those emails inboxes so everyone has the info they need, so please reply if you got this so I am not chasing those who are already connected.
Thanks
Mr. F.
