Shedd This weekend

Don’t forget this Saturday is the Shed Aquariums, be sure to meet at the Kenosha METRA train station 5414 13th Ave at 6:30 AM. Pick up is at 7:25 PM. Feel free to carpool for rides. Check what adults are attending, maybe you can catch a ride with them.

Wreath Money

Let’s wrap that up this week, after this week we have several weeks off for the holidays and won't be meeting until next year so we really want to collect the remaining money this Monday. Also bring your yellow sheets with names, we can keep them and hand them out next year when we do wreaths so we don’t lose customers, especially those who were given to you. Some of those customers date back 25 years and look forward to that call. Imagine a Christmas without a tree, for some, it's just not Christmas without the scout wreath on the house.

A Scout is Helpful

Last Monday at the Court of Honor I gave Scoutmaster minute on a project I need help with. I was contacted by the wife of an Eagle Scout and a friend of mine who works as a teacher at Julian Thomas School. Her class is working on a project talking about community involvement and how the students CAN make a difference. They are running a food drive to give to those in need, some of the food will probably end up in the hands of those in this school, seeing the School serves many who are in need. As we talked about last Monday with Austen and Elijah talking about what they ate that day, to think that some young people may not be eating more than a single can of beans or tuna for the whole day should make us think about how not everyone is as fortunate as us. So I challenged the Troop to fill the box that the class decorated for us. But I then brought out a bigger box and challenged the group to fill the larger box and we all agreed we could do it. So here is the deal, this MONDAY, and only this Monday bring as much food as you would like to contribute, I would hope everyone would bring at least one item, but if you can afford more, bring more. We will collect it Monday night and either Monday night or Tuesday, I will bring it to Mrs. Simon and her class to see that people do care about their project to help feed others. Not only will we be helping feed others, we will be assisting Mrs. Simon to teach her students the value of working as a team to improve the community we live in, which ironically is what we teach in Scouting. So bring non-perishable food, can goods etc to the meeting Monday night, parents, maybe make your son part of the shopping for this food too. Imagine the lesson you can teach them, if you can’t find the time, have them select their favorite foods in your cupboards. Either way, let's fill the big box. Maybe both boxes!!! If you have any mittens or hats you have outgrown, bring those along too, Mr. Simon said several of the students can use those too. Let's FILL THE BOX!!!

If I don’t communicate with you or see you before Christmas have a GREAT CHRISTMAS and holiday season!! PLC, don’t forget we have a meeting next Monday Dec 18th at CBTL.

Thanks

Mr. F.
