Advancement Night
This Monday is advancement night AT ST. RITA, it is an time for people to stop in and work on advancement items if they wish, for our younger scouts, all the things up to first class, for our older scouts, feel free to call and invite a Merit Badge Counselor to come and work with you on a merit badge. Meeting is from 7 PM to 8:30. Olders Scouts are welcome to come and work with the younger scouts on advancement as well.
A reminder from Mr. Sisak: Mr. Sisak will meet anyone needing First Class requirement 4a this Monday, 4/2 at 6:00 PM outside of our usual meeting place, Cascia Hall. Mr. Sisak will repeat this session on 4/9 at 6:00 PM. Both sessions will have the same content, you will only need to attend one.
These two weeks only! If you need to complete First Class requirement 4b, bring a GPS (cell phone is OK for this requirement only) and demonstrate to Mr. Sisak that you found the address for St. Rita, entered it in to the GPS (Google maps, or other app is OK), plotted a path from your starting location to St. Rita and follow that path to St. Rita.
This is open to everyone that needs either of these two requirements, including all of our new scouts!
For reference, the requiments states the following, check you book to see if it is complete, if not, feel free to join in. Parents, if you want to know how to use a map and compass or can help Mr. Sisak, feel free to join in, if the turn out is good, he will need some help!
Frist Class 4a: Using a map and compass, complete an orienteering course that covers at least one mile and requires measuring the height and/or width of designated items (tree, tower, canyon, ditch, etc.).
First Class 4b: Demonstrate how to use a handheld GPS unit, GPS app on a smartphone, or other electronic navigation system. Use GPS to find your current location, a destination of your choice, and the route you will take to get there. Follow that route to arrive at your destination.
Popcorn
This must be the week for announcements from others, but Mrs. Miller also asked me to remind everyone about Popcorn, which is due THIS MONDAY April 2. If you are out of town on spring break and can not bring it this Monday, let Mrs. Miller know, she can collect a few next week but would like to know who has orders.
CFL Merit Badge signup
For all our older scouts, you should be signing up for your Merit Badges online for summer camp, the info was given out at the Court of Honor for all those who were signed up. If you did not get the info or lost it, please let me know, I can give you the info again. Anyone needing help signing up, we can assist you Monday at the advancement night. For our first year scouts, we will wait to sign up for things till closer to camp, then we can see what we have completed before camp, and sign up for what you still need. Adults are welcome to sign up for some of the adult leader training at camp as well, if you need a registration number and password, let me know.
Camp Physicals
Just a reminder, that everyone needs a physical form filled out, regardless if they are going to summer camp or not. Be sure to get your appointment lined up ready to go if you need one. Walgreens and other clinics also do these exams as well, you might check around, it might be cheaper.
Thanks
Mr. F.
