Rockwell Automation
This Monday we will have a guest speaker coming in for our Troop meeting. Rockwell Automation will be coming to our meeting teach us about small servo motors. Each Scout will have a chance to build a small project with a servo motor. Anyone who is involved with Robotics will know what this is all about, those who are not, will get a chance to see some neat things that servo motors do in our life. Thanks to Rockwell for coming to our meeting to teach our scouts about some of the little in things in life we don’t think about to often.
Merit Badge Counselor Training
Parents, we have scheduled a Merit Badge Counselor Training session for this MONDAY at 7 PM, as of mid- last week, no one has contacted Kathy Andersen to say they want to do this, so we ask that if you are interested, please contact Kathy at KLA1012@gmail.com and let her know you are plan on coming. There are over 130 Merit Badges available, once you get trained, you can counsel a few of them to help our scouts (and others) advance. It’s a great way to help, and depending on the merit badge you may only get called upon one or twice a year. Our scouts need counselors to advance, help them out! If we don’t get enough to run the class, we will reschedule.
Cyberchip
Next week’s meeting (May 7) we will be doing CyberChip, which is a online safety course for Scouts. Looking through the BSA rank requirements, so next Monday will cover many different requirements for different ranks. There is some homework to do before next Monday. Please go to this page and read up ahead of time and do requirements 1-3 and bring them to the meeting. https://www.scouting.org/training/youth-protection/cyber-chip/grades-9-12/. Internet safety is important and, let's do it safely. Parents, please have these discussions with your youth.
Physical Fitness At the Lock in last week, we worked on a couple requirements around physical fitness. We did the base plan, but scouts are supposed to work on a plan for the next 30 days. The requirement says Develop and describe a plan for improvement in each of the activities listed in Tenderfoot requirement 6a. Keep track of your activity for at least 30 days and show improvement. Scouts, don’t forget to get that part done and track it for 30 days so by camp we get you signed off on this and you can complete Tenderfoot. Second Class also has fitness requirement, so be sure to follow up with these requirements
Last Day for Starved Rock
This Monday is the last day to sign up for Starved Rock, it will be a great weekend filled with waterfalls and more. If you have not signed up, be sure to do so. Patrol Leaders, don’t forget to turn in Menus and Duty Roster this Monday.
High Adventure 2018
We had our High Adventure meeting for all those in 7th grade or older last week and we decided upon doing a Wisconsin Tour. The Trip will include what the scouts want it to, but initially we are talking a bike trip out of Racine to Waukesha (1 day only), then the next day at the Falendysz Cabin for a day of waterskiing and tubing, then it will depend on what those who want to go decide, but we are looking at rock climbing at Devils Lake (if we have a large enough group), maybe a day at the Dells. Other attractions as the group decides. We are looking at the first or second week in August for the trip, once we have a list of attendee’s then we will sit down and figure out the plan and come up with a final fee based on what things people want to do. All those who are interested, please check your calendar to see what works for you, we will do a quick poll on Monday. Any adults who would like to go, we will need your best dates too, remember, we cant do this without adults.
Med Forms
Med Forms are due this week for all. Please get those turned in, if you have not done so, you can get one picked up here. Remember we need A,B and C filled out.
Thanks
Mr. F.
