A Scouter gone home....

I don't know who may or may not have seen the Facebook posts or other posts I have made on this subject but it is great sadness that I inform you of the passing of Terry Williams, a 20+ year Assistant Scoutmaster in Troop 161 who just went into scouting semi retirement a few years ago.

His obit is here....

Terry and his wife (Kim) were both very active in Troop 161 for 20 plus years. Terry served as my Assistant Scoutmaster for almost the entire time and was very involved in Scouting. Besides serving as Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 161, Terry served as an Associate Adviser for the Order of the Arrow, was on Jr Leader Training Conference/National Youth Leader Training staff for maybe 10 years and served course director twice Terry was Wood badge participant and staff. Terry was at home in the OhDaKoTa dining hall, where he served on many council and district programs most often as a cook. He and his wife stepped down from active role at the Troop level a few years ago to pursue their travel interest as well as spend time with their boys, Life Scout Jeremiah (NC) and Eagle Scout Jacob (FL) and and most importantly their two grandchildren which Terry adored. Terry remained supportive and registered as Troop committee and Merit Badge counselor as well as board member of the Troop 161 Family Account, a non-profit board that supports the Scouting movement and Troop 161.

Terry will be truly missed not only by the Scouting movement, but by his family all the friends he made while in the program and beyond. I know personally Terry was always there to support me and encouragement serving as an Assistant Scoutmaster and always gave the most he could to help out. I cant count the number of meals we served together, the number of Scouts we worked with together to the number of laughs we had. The countless meetings, weekend events, night of camping or even the number of weeks at summer camp. Terry was a loyal leader and friend and he will truly be missed. Cancer may have taken his body, but Terry will live on in the many people he touched in his life. I hope each of you scouts that he mentored will never take for granted the countless sacrifices Mr. Williams has made to make YOUR scouting program a better program and help you succeed in Scouting and hopefully in life. We will miss you Mr. Terry Williams, but we will honor you by striving to be the type of man you were.

I am doing my best to get this out to all that knew Terry, feel free to pass it on to anyone who might have known Terry.

A photo tribute to Terry is here

Just a heads up, the BSB for this week may not be out by Saturday Morning as usual, please accept my apologies, it will by out by Sunday

Thanks
