Camp is coming quickly
Camp is less than a month away now, need the following, if you didn’t get this done, please do so
ALL- Need a CURRENT medical form, If you have not turned one in, in the last year, please do so, this includes YOUTH and ADULTS. This includes a copy of shot records and insurance card. Also don’t forget, both youth and adults need to sign their own form, youth also need a parental signature. If you have questions where you stand, be sure to contact Ruth Ann Smithers, if she has tried to contact you, please return the message, its not fun chasing down 30-40 med forms, so please be considerate of the task we have to accomplish and do your part.
Adults attending-
All adults need to be registered with the BSA, so be sure to fill out a membership application and get that turned in by THIS Monday! They have to be processed before camp
ALL adults need the NEW youth protection training. About April 1st, the BSA introduced their new Youth Protection Training. ALL those attending camp MUST have completed the NEW training regardless of your previous expiration date of any past training, so if you have not taken the training since April, be sure to do so and give us a copy of the certificate. If you have to fill out the membership application, its best to include it with the application. This must be done prior to camp if attending camp, or by Oct 1, 2018 for the rest.
Attend Camp Leader Meeting
We will be having a camp leaders meeting on July 12th, at 7 PM at CBTL. We will cover the roles for each adult so we can be prepared for camp to help out the youth to the fullest. For our first timers we will cover any additional questions you might have. Everyone who is attending camp for the full week or even part of the week should plan on attending.
Scouts, Start working on pre-requisites
Those of you taking merit badges that have pre-requisites work before camp, as School finishes up it’s a great time to do a little Scouting homework so when you get to camp you can enjoy all the benefits of camp and not worry about reading or writing up things. Nothing worse than having to write an essay while all your friends are down at the waterfront or the shooting range having fun. Now is a good time to start getting that work done!
Event Sign up
While many of our events didn’t have deadlines, there are several that do (you may have missed King Fish last week), so be sure to fill the form and get signed up for things. Some of the events require us to buy advance tickets and arrange transportation, so we would like to have numbers on time. All the info is in the Court of Honor Handout, PW is T161
High Adventure!!! (for those how just finished 7th grade or older)
We need your signup plan for High Adventure, we want to start looking for discounted tickets to things and we need a firm number so we can save you money! Remember there is a delayed start for those who just want to do the water/Dells events. Be sure to sign up, the fact sheet and sign up form is HERE, remember we need adults to help too.
Philmont 2019 (for those how just finished 7th grade or older)
There is still room for people to sign up for Philmont 2019. Do you have a friend in another Troop that might want to go? Let us know, we need to have at least seven people to have a trek and we need more participants right now. Also looking for adults to make the commitment, I have heard of a few who are interested, but need to have the adults to round out the crew, Scouts can’t go without adults!
Who is ready to have a great summer! How about a SUPER SUMMER!
Thanks
Mr. F.
