Monday night
This week we will be doing cooking demos, be sure to bring your appetite to sample some food.
Thanks!
Thanks to the Caledonia Police Department for last weeks demo with the police dog. Thanks to Mr. Lisowski for helping our Scouts with the planning of the event. For those who did not hear, Mr. Lisowski was assisting with the demo, and let the dog attack him, in the process, Mr. Lisowski injured his leg and will be in a cast for three months. Be sure to keep Mr. Lisowski in your thoughts and prayers as he heals. Doesn’t look like he will be running from the dog any time soon.
Service
We have several service opportunities that have been offered to the Troop in the last week or so…
The Vietnam Moving Wall will be here for their 35th-anniversary volunteers did such an outstanding job in 2015. It'll be here from May 16-20. Usually, it comes every 10 years. Most of the volunteers are in their 70s now, so they could use some help. If you're interested in volunteering, they would like to have some help putting everything back the way it was before they set up the wall. This will include spreading of mulch, picking up plants, chairs, etc. They are asking for high school age Boy Scouts. The lady in charge, Pat Adams, said it usually takes about 2 hours. You can meet her at the park on Monday, May 20 @3:30 They are also looking for help setting it up,. Please call Ellen at 262-638-8705 to sign up for set up! Or email Martinez.ellen@gmail.com.
A group is looking for volunteers to place flags at the Vets grave sites at Arlington Park location in Greenfield. They have thousands of vets interred here and could use all the help the can get, placing flags at their markers prior to Memorial Day. Although we don’t necessarily have an age restriction, we would ask that the volunteer is able to read, understand a basic map and identify a veterans marker. If the scout is too young for this, perhaps an adult could accompany them while they perform this patriotic activity. The flag placement for this location will occur on Wednesday, May 22nd and Thursday, May 23rd from approximately 4 -6 pm. Contact info is Michelle Zawacki C 414-517-6323. They will also be doing this at West Lawn Cemetery on Thursday, May 23rd at 7:30 am, but I suspect this conflicts with School for most, same contact info.
We were also asked about parking assistance at Prom on Saturday, and then assistance with Special needs Prom on Sunday, if anyone is interested in either of those, contact me on that, I will get you the info.
Last night for Advancement
This Monday is the last night to turn in Advancement for the Court of Honor coming up on June 3rd. Mrs. Andersen will be back at the meeting this Monday so if you completed anything the last couple of weeks, be sure to get it recorded so you can get recognition for those accomplishments at the Court of Honor.
Summer camp classes
Did you sign up for Summer camp merit badge work yet, if not, be sure to do so, some of the sessions are filling up fast. If you lost your sign-in sheet, let me know and I can get you another copy. If you need help, we can help with that too. Parents be sure to sit down with your scout and get this planned out.
Religious Award presentation
Dalton and his parents asked me to pass on this message to the Troop membership.
Dalton Yonkovich recently completed 16 - 1-hour lessons with his pastor in order to earn his religious emblem/knot. He would like to invite anyone that would like to attend his church service on May 19 at 10:00 am. in order to watch him get recognized and receive his emblem. His church is very open to anyone who would like to attend. This may also motivate you to look into working on your religious emblem/knot if you haven't already. The church name and address is: Faithbridge United Methodist Church 10402 Northwestern Ave. Franksville.
That should do it this week, have a good one, our next meeting after this Monday will be June 3 for the Court of Honor, the PLC will meet next week, then it is Memorial day the following Monday, you won't see a BSB till the weekend prior to June 3.
Thanks
Mr. F.
