Lock-in This weekend
Just a reminder that THIS FRIDAY is the Lock-In at St. Rita Gymnasium, (use the NORTH doors) at 8 PM. Anyone who would like to come early, and help take down tables and chairs, you are welcome to do so. Just a few reminders about the weekend.
We will have A LOT of activity for the 12 hours of Lock-in. We will be doing both physical active activities as well as some more restful activities such as board games and maybe a movie. Highlights for all to keep in mind
-We will be doing the Physical Fitness requirements for rank advancement that is required for the early ranks, if you do not have those complete, plan on doing those. It is highly recommended that you bring your book if you are doing that for rank advancement (our new scouts, we will be giving you your books on Friday)
-If you have any board games or group-type games, bring them along. You will be responsible for taking care of the game while at the Lock-in, if you need help, let us know. We are also looking for movies on DVD, we prefer that they be PG or G rated. If parents are OK with PG-13 please let me know, we can allow for those, as we only have a few scouts who will be under 13 when the movies play. Please, no video games.
-One of the activities is to have a nerf gun activity, if you have a nerf gun, feel free to bring them along. Eye protection is encouraged we will bring some safety glasses for those who don’t have any.
-The Troop will be providing food and snacks, along with basic drinks. If you have special drinks, snacks, or other things to eat, feel free to bring them along. Parents, please review what your son wants to bring and be within reason and what you allow at home. We have lifted the Caffeine-Free rule for this event but it is still up to parents if they can bring caffeine with them. We will not be providing caffeinated products for the evening.
-Sleeping gear is welcome, you don’t HAVE TO stay up all night, but some do. Feel free to bring sleeping gear if you wish, we will have a quieter place for those who would like some rest.
-Limitations, if anyone has physical limitations to participate in any activity, please be sure to let us know. If you have medication for physical activity such as an inhaler or knee braces etc, be sure to bring them along and let me know where they are.
-We will be doing all kinds of activities, such as basketball, volleyball, ultimate frisbee, kickball, board games, card games (no gambling). Some will be games of chance, some will be games of skills, there will be winners and losers. We expect good sportsmanship from ALL! If any parents have concerns about activities, including nerf guns, please let us know, and if you would prefer, your scout is welcome to excuse himself from any activity. No activities will be mandatory but they must stay in the building at all times and only be in designated areas.
-We could use some more adults. If any parents would be willing to assist, feel free to join us, if only for part of it, that is fine. if nothing else, rotate in case any adults want to catch a nap.
Parents, please be there by 8 AM to pick up your scouts, there will be some adults who will be ready to go home and get some sleep!
Monday’s meeting
Monday we are doing a woodworking project, if you have a favorite hammer, bring it along. The more hammers the better.
Have a great week!
Mr. F.
