This Monday Meeting
The post is going out a little early this week as a reminder from last Monday and so families go shopping for their Super Bowl Treats they grab a couple of extra things for Monday’s meeting. We will be working on Engineering skills for this week’s meeting and as part of that, we will be doing some minor construction to talk about how different engineering structures work. We are asking that each scout have a bag of marshmallows and long spaghetti noodles (uncooked). You can get small or large marshmallows but the small ones will probably be the best for what we are doing. The meeting starts at 7:00, zoom link is in the email. It is the same as last week’s
Congratulations
Congratulations to the members of our Troop who attended the Klondike Derby last weekend, they took First Place in one of the events and they also took FIRST PLACE OVERALL, meaning they beat all the other Troops in attendance. Way to go guys, great representation for the Troop. Overall they earned two ribbons and one trophy. Not only that had a great time doing it all. Hats off those who attended!
Happy Birthday Scouting
While walking the “foggy” streets of London in 1909, American businessman William Boyce got lost. A young boy offered to help him find his way. Boyce wanted to compensate him, but the boy declined. He explained that he was a Scout and it was his duty to help and Scouts never take money for doing good turns. Interested, William Boyce met with British Boy Scout founder Robert Baden-Powell. Boyce knew that boys back home in America could benefit from a program like the Boy Scouts. Official papers establishing the Boy Scouts of America were signed on February 8, 1910 – the date now celebrated as the birthday of the BSA.
That is all for this week.
What did you do for your good turn today??
See you on the zoom on Monday night!
Thanks
Mr. F.
