This Monday

There WILL be a meeting this Monday in person, even though there might not be school because of MLK day. We opted to have this meeting but we will have an advancement night on January 31th, the Monday AFTER the Christmas campout. This Monday we will be talking about Winter First Aid as we have a couple of winter events coming up.

CPR

We are extending this till Feb 1 to give people some more time to get the online stuff done, here is what we posted in the past.

CPR Training is a great skill to have. Someday you may need to use it on a loved one or someone else. As Leaders of the Troop, we are required to stay up to date on the training and we are working with a member of the Caledonia Fire department to assist us in getting certified. The new way to handle this is they have the classroom portion ONLINE at Shopcpr.heart.org/heartsaver-cpr-aed-on line where you can purchase the class and complete the classroom portion. After that is complete, we will schedule a practical “hands-on” class where we can get officially certified (including a CPR card for an added fee). We would like to set a deadline date of January 12th (our next Committee meeting) February 1 to gather the names of those who have completed the online course so we can schedule the “hands-on” portion at that point. EACH person must do the online class on their own because you will get to print out the completion certificate at the end of the online course, we ask you to turn in a copy of that to serve as the registration so we can get a count of the “Hands-on” class to follow. This class is open to any registered Scouters, parents, and Scouts, but for scouts, to run the “hands-on“ portion, we are going to say First Class Scout or above, because doing CPR, may not be effective with smaller scouts. For those needing CPR training time for Merit Badges, this is a great opportunity to get this done now, so when you want to work on something like Lifesaving Merit Badge at camp, you will be done with the CPR. If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Kathy Andersen.

Wreaths

While we are done with wreaths and will be distributing the money as soon as we have all the money turned in, should be soon. Mrs. Yonkovich asked me to include the following:

Wreath Sales - If you haven't turned in your sheets with your customers' names and what they bought, please do so this week. We'll keep a record of that information for you, so you will remember who your customers are. We don't want to forget any of our customers! Thanks for your help!

Chicago Trip

The City of Chicago has instituted a mandate that all PUBLIC places request a copy of vaccination cards from everyone who enters their facilities. What this means for us is that EVERYONE who attends this event must be vaccinated and have proof of that information. This is a rule of Chicago rule, there is nothing we can do about it, so sorry if you don’t agree. From what we can find out, there are no exceptions allowed. Please be aware of this before you sign up. If you signed up but can not meet the requirement, be sure to fill out an envelope to take your name OFF the list as well.

Recharter

Just a reminder that EVERYONE will have $81 taken out of their account for annual registration fees. This should happen about the same time as wreath money will also be put in your account, if not, feel free to wait till that credit is given to determine your account balance.

Klondike Derby

NEXT Saturday, January 22 we will be meeting at 7 AM at St. Rita to go out to Oh-Da-Ko-Ta for the Klondike Derby. Be sure to dress warm, and bring the following;

  • Can of soup (no cream soup or Ramen noodles) to share for the lunch soup dump

  • Boots are required, no tennis shoes!

  • Bring a Water bottle, dehydration happens all year all temps!

  • Mask

  • Totin Chip

  • Blindfold (something you can use for a blindfold)

  • Scout Uniform

That’s it this week, see you IN PERSON on Monday, masks required.

Mr. F.
