We are back!

We are going back to IN PERSON meeting on May 17th. To the best of my knowledge, no additional scouts came down with COVID because of our protective measures which will continue. Thanks, everyone for being understanding about the importance of wearing masks and keeping distance the best we can. Thanks to the family that reported to us as soon as they knew so we could prevent any additional cases. This Monday we will be talking about camp and getting scouts ready for summer camp. For our new scouts, please consider signing up as this will be our last Troop meeting for a few weeks. May 24th will be a PLC and May 31st will be Memorial Day and we will be off!

Court of Honor

June 7th will be our Court of Honor, which is our quarterly award ceremony. We expect parents to participate as well. That means if you have advancement to turn in, be sure you get it turned in to Mrs. Andersen by this Monday so she can get the Awards by June 7th. We decided at our Committee meeting this week we will do a Family Picnic at Crawford Park on June 7th. We will have more details in the BSB for that week but keep the date open for an outdoor picnic and awards ceremony.

Medical Forms

We are still in need of medical forms from many people, be sure to get that to us by JUNE 7TH, preferably this Monday. We need all three parts completed for summer camp, which includes the doctor's exam and shot record. Please get those turned in THIS Monday if possible. Med form is HERE

Youth Protection

Just a reminder that all adults attending summer camp MUST HAVE Youth Protection Training available and be registered, you can get this training at my.scouting.org. If you have not done so, you may need to make a BSA account. Once you are done with the training it is advised you print out the certificate and put it in the Troop envelope. I would suggest that ALL parents take this training so you have an understanding of the rules in place to protect your child.

Communication with Adults

I would also remind/request that all youth who electronically communicate with any adults in the Troop be sure to include a second adult in the conversation, this includes email, texts, or other methods. If not your parents, pick another adult, if need be, include me if you would like. If texting me, be sure to have a second adult as well. This is all part of the Youth Protection Plan of the BSA and we are obliged to follow these safety measures.

Service Opportunities

We have two service opportunities for those who are looking for some service hours for Rank advancement.

Mrs. Hardesty forwarded me this info;

-We will be placing flags to the North of the War Memorial Center behind the General MacArthur statue in Veterans Park. Since this year is the 20th Anniversary of 9/11, the completed garden will be made up of 7,056 flags representing all of the service members who have lost their lives since the terrorist attacks. To get an idea of what this is like, you can watch this video of last year’s event where we 2,972 flags in honor of the Milwaukee service members who died in World War II.

We are in need of volunteers on the 29th at 9AM to help place the 7,056 flags. Volunteers can sign up at the following link. volunteersignup.org/PBRMY

We are also in need of volunteers in the afternoon to help plot out the flag positions on Friday, May 28th and to remove, clean, and store the flags on Tuesday, June 1st. In case folks are out of town for Memorial Day weekend but still want to help, we’d be incredibly grateful for the help those days.

-Mr. Lyons will also be working with Pack 108 and VFW and placing flags on the graves of Veterans at Graceland cemetery for Memorial Day. This will happen NEXT weekend, May 22 at 9 PM. If you want more info, Mr. Lyon can assist, feel free to ask him at the meeting on Monday. If you don’t know who Mr. Lyons is, just ask me and I will point you in the right direction.

Please remember if you do either of these service projects, that you have someone sign a note you were there so we can count the service towards advancement.

That should do it for this week, SEE you Monday night at CBTL at 7 PM.

Thanks

Mr. F.
