Does Not Compute!

This Monday we will be working with computers and actually rebuilding one, come and get an introduction to Computer Merit badge as well. Let’s hope it computes!

Med Forms

This Monday is the deadline for camp medical forms, if you have an appointment that as after this Monday, please let us know by writing a note and including it in the incoming envelope at the Troop meeting so we can have a better idea of when to expect the form. All Scouts must have a medical form completed annually for not only summer camp, but for year-round activities. This date has been published since the camp fees were published, so hopefully, you have had time to get that taken care of to make this process easier on all. We need to get the med forms up to camp several weeks before our arrival.

Campout next weekend

Next week is our spring campout. We will be camping at Bong Recreational Center and doing the ropes course at Boundless Adventures. The troop provides all the camping gear including tents, the patrol will be shopping for the food and the scouts need to bring their personal gear, sleeping bag, and pad. Dress for the season, if this weekend is any indication, it can rain, be cold, be warm, sunny, and pretty much anything in between all in the same weekend. Never rule out snow and/or frost. Everyone should be sure they have good warm dry footwear as well. The meeting last week talked a lot about how to prepare for this campout, but the Scout handbook is also a great resource for some great hints. You can find a good gear list HERE. While this is a year-round list, colder campouts require additional supplies, might have to swap out swim suite for thermal underwear. What you wear also makes a big difference, cotton is always colder than synthetic garments. Dress wise, dress warm! Don’t rule out gloves and winter boots.

New Family Night

We have been trying to schedule a new family night and hard to get schedules to coincide (mostly mine) so we are going to meet THIS Monday at St. Rita during the Troop meeting seeing most come for the meeting anyhow. I will need to make sure the regular Troop meeting gets rolling so we may not start till 7:15 or so. If you have any questions, be sure to jot them down and we will see if get them covered. Hope to see at least one parent from each new scout (but both are welcome) to come to this meeting. Hope to see you there!

That is all for this week, see you Monday night.

Mr. F.
