Part of a note from our Council Leadership
Dear Scouting Families:
The surge of COVID-19 cases across Wisconsin shows that the virus is spreading at its highest rate since the onset of the pandemic. Due to high COVID-19 activity levels in Milwaukee, Kenosha, and Racine counties, units are not to conduct in-person indoor Scout meetings and activities effective today and continuing until at least January 1, 2021. All units, including troops, packs, and dens, are encouraged to hold virtual meetings at this time.
Scout units are to thoughtfully consider whether they can continue to conduct safe outdoor activities and make that decision after consulting with their charter organization. If an outdoor activity is planned, Scouts, leaders and family members should all conduct COVID-19 self-health assessments, wear face coverings, and practice physical distancing of at least six feet throughout the activity. We recognize the importance of outdoor Scouting activities during this time, while being mindful of the risk these activities could pose as Scouts go home to other family members, including those who are vulnerable. If you feel it is unsafe to hold your outdoor activity, please wait until a safer time.
Effective immediately, all district, council and Order of the Arrow events, activities and trainings will be conducted virtually until further notice. Camp Oh-Da-Ko-Ta and Camp IMR will remain open for day activities and overnight tent camping following the one Scout per tent policy. The camp cabins, dining halls and other indoor meeting spaces are closed until further notice. Three Harbors Council’s COVID-19 Scouting Task Force will evaluate the situation in mid-December and will share any updates at that time.
We know that the COVID-19 restrictions have been challenging for our Scouts and leaders. We all look forward to the time when we can continue our in-person Scouting adventures. In the meantime, please visit our Scouting at Home page for activities and advancement your Scout can do from home.
--The Council Leadership
Even though our Troop was doing a great job following all the Covid precautions safety is always the most important for our members and their families. The Troop is back to VIRTUAL MEETINGS. Our PLC is working on a new plan for Monday’s meeting but we are also working with some local groups to provide some innovative meetings for the future. We are hoping to go to places (virtually) we have not been to before!
Here the link for Monday’s meeting https://us02web.zoom.us/j/216722273, see you there at 7 PM.
What about Wreath Sales?
Wreaths sale plans will continue as planned, Pick up will be NEXT weekend and all scouts should be able to deliver them but we want to remind EVERYONE to be careful and use masks when delivering. Be sure to wash hands after dealing with payments before doing other things like eating. There is plenty of communications on preventative measures, please refer to them. Stay safe!!
Money collection
We are still discussing how we will collect the money from the wreaths sales seeing we are not meeting in person, watch next week’s BSB for the details on that process.
Advancement
Be sure to take a look at the Council web page listed above, and check out what online merit badges are offered, they will be adding more during the Covid shut down.
Scout Account Statements
Everyone should have received their Scout Account Statement, just a reminder that $72 recharter fees will be taken out of our account in December but wreath money will be added at the end of December or January. If your balance and your income from your wreath sales don’t cover that fee, be sure to send a check to Mrs. Hardesty for your scout account. Anyone who wants Boy’s Life, OA fees, or any of the extra fees that were in the registration form, please be sure to let me know in the next couple of weeks.
I think that is all for now, stay healthy!
Mr. F.
