This Week

October is upon us and time for some fall activities. We had a great afternoon at the Corn Maze, don’t forget to sign up for the Fall Campout at the Haunted Hayride. We will be doing some haunting at the event, we will be talking about that at our meeting this week, so think of some good ideas to give those attending the haunted hayride an reason to shake a little. We will also be talking about how do start a mini business to make some money, as part of the requirement for rank advancement. Be sure to come and enjoy the evening and learn some new stuff.

Know anyone who might enjoy Scouts?

Pack 161 will be having an open house at St. Rita this Monday from 6-7 PM. Be sure to invite them to attend. If they are old enough to Join Troop 161, feel free to bring them to a Troop meeting, just let me know you are bringing them, so we have enough supplies during the meeting. Anyone who wants to help with the open house, can let Mr. Lisowski know and show up at 6 PM. The future of Troop 161 starts with the Pack, please encourage friends, family, neighbors, and classmates to join Scouting!

Product Sales

Be sure to get out and sell some wreaths (and popcorn). Those that would like some names of loyal wreath customers, be sure to contact Mrs. Yonkovich, but be sure to take some ONLY if you are going to be diligent on following up on those leads. There are people who have made buying a wreath from Troop 161 a holiday tradition, don’t mess that up! Be sure to call early, don’t wait till the last minute for these sales or any other.

Honor Flight

Sorry we had to cancel the Troop presence at the Honor Flight, but they wanted to error on the side of caution. Even without the Scouts there, there were a lot of people there to welcome the veterans home, which was great. As a guardian, it was a great experience and an honor to be able to take a vet to this event, and he was very thrilled to attend. When he came home from his tour of duty, he never saw the welcome home he deserved, it was great to see it happen now.

Elections

If you want to run for a leadership position, either elected or appointed, be sure to get your Leadership Application (available in Troop documents on the web page) in by the start of the meeting on Monday. We are working on moving to build the Leadership Corp numbers up, once we do that and evaluate the patrol numbers, then we will have an election. Hope to have the done in the next couple of weeks.
